Buying the CHEAPEST VIOLIN BOW on eBay for $ 6 – Any good? | Violin Lounge TV #341

Ok, I get it… you’re on a tight budget and you really need a violin bow…

But hey, I don’t want you to throw away money.

Here’s my honest review of this $ 6,55 bow and my view on what’s the minimum price of a violin bow suitable for a beginner violinist:

What to look for when buying a violin bow as a beginner violinist?

You want the hairs to have a good response on the strings, so it’s easy to make a decent sound. You want it to be easy to bow straight. You want the bow to be stable, so that it won’t jump or shake easily.

So what should you spend on a bow, not as a professional or advanced player, but as a beginning violinist just to learn? In the above video I’m looking at some cheap violin bows from that perspective and show you the differences.

Would you put the $6 violin bow in your violin case or in your trash can?

Let me know in the comments!

I would not spend the money for the $6.00 bow. What a mess and rotten advertizing. I have the Fiddlerman’s carbon fiber bow and am very happy with it. Thanks for all that you do for us out in youtube land. To you and yours a Happy Christmas.

Haha, yes, I was just curious when I saw this bow and had a good laugh about the advertising text. I can certainly imagine you’re happy with the Fiddlerman bow :). Merry Christmas to you and your family, Robert!

So if I got a dowel and put my own hair on it [before I cut it] then I might get a bow as good as that one eh? LOL.
Thanks for being brave enough to at least try this out Zlata LOL.

You mispelled yinfente and the link is bad. But I found yinfente on Amazon for $32. One thing I would say is that a cheap carbon fiber bow is likely to be better than a cheap wooden bow. But, it’s unlikely I will ever require or justify bows for thousands or even hundreds of dollars. I’m replacing my old glasses with a kmise “stunning” carbon fiber bow for $30.

Thanks for the video Zlata! My first bow was like that, how I survived with it for one year I don’t know………..

Can you also review the P&H London Violin Bow at some point?

Oh, wow, you must be so happy to have a good bow now! Sure, I can review it if you can get them to send one to me… perhaps I can even organize a give away around it…

Hi, I have contacted the company and I hope to hear back from them soon.

Sorry that I didn’t reply sooner…….just seen the reply today! 🙁

I have the bow that came with my inexpensive violin and it might not be a good one, but at least its straight. Thank you for the video showing just how bad the $6 bow is. I don’t need something that makes learning to play even harder than it is now. I would go for the carbon bow or something around that price mark.

Yes, you can be lucky to have a sort of decent bow with a violin set, however a better bow could open new possibilities. Interesting to try! 🙂
