This is easy to do also for beginner violinists:
Play slides on the violin without position shifts
As a beginner violinist you might want to spice up your performance with slides. You can do this even when just playing in the first position.
A slide is made when you leave your finger on the string like you’re playing a note, but you slide your finger up or down the fingerboard.
Make sure to be bowing otherwise your slide can’t be heard. Sliding and bowing at the same time might be a little confusing in the beginning.

I tried slides this morning as I practiced and surprised myself that I could do it and I sounded good. Thanks so much. Today’s practice included DannyBoy, Red River Valley and Wildwood Flower. Far from good but with your encouragement I’m not going to give up.

Zlata that may be the easiest video you’ve given us yet. I found a way to make it even easier. You say to make sure to use the bow while sliding. I find if I don’t use the bow at all, then no one hears all those mistakes I’m making with my left hand… Ha ha. But really, I loved this video and it’s a lot of fun to play with these slides.
