What Trills can Teach You about Vibrato on the Violin and Viola | Violin Lounge TV #223

There are many ways to learn vibrato and most of them work. The key is to do a lot of them consistently to develop a good vibrato. Vibrato is considered the holy grail by a lot of violin learners and this video is about one of the things that can help you get it.

If you can already do trills well, these can be a key to learning vibrato. The movement in your left hand is similar if you perform your trill with a relaxed wrist. In vibrato you do almost the same thing, only you don’t put the other finger down. You just roll over the tip of the finger that is on the string.

How you can achieve vibrato is to do a trill with a loose wrist… but without the actual trill.
